Run your shared house without the spreadsheet
A shared house is not a trip: it lasts, it comes back every month, and the same costs come back with it. What wears people down is not the maths — it is having to think about it again each month.
Create one ongoing group for the house, and turn everything that repeats into a recurring expense: rent, internet, electricity, subscriptions, cleaning. They repeat on their own, weekly or monthly. The rest — groceries, a repair — gets added as it happens. Balances stay current, and nobody has to chase anybody.
What takes care of itself
This is the difference that matters in a shared house. An expense that comes back is created once and then repeats without anyone touching it.
- Rent and service charges, every month.
- Internet, electricity, gas, water.
- Shared subscriptions — streaming, gym, newspapers.
- Cleaning, or any regular service.
That leaves the one-off costs: groceries, a lightbulb, a repair. Those take seconds to log, and only between the people concerned.
When not everyone pays the same
In a shared house an equal split is rarely the right one. Three situations come up constantly:
- Rooms of different sizes. Whoever sleeps in the small one pays less. Handled with shares, or exact amounts on the rent line.
- A couple in the house. Two people, one room: their share of rent and utilities counts double on some lines and single on others.
- What does not concern everyone. The subscription only two housemates use, the groceries bought for a dinner for three. You choose who takes part, line by line.

Squaring up at the end of the year
The moment the accounts have to come back out: someone moves out, a utility bill is reconciled, a landlord asks for proof. That is what the CSV export is for: pick the period, open the file in a spreadsheet, and you have it line by line.
The group statistics also show where the household money actually goes: the share taken by groceries, by energy, and how it moves month to month. Useful before renegotiating a contract.

Can I create recurring expenses?
Yes. An expense that comes back every week or every month — rent, a subscription, cleaning — is created once and repeats on its own.
How do you split rent when the rooms are different?
By number of shares or by exact amounts. You enter the total rent and set each person’s share once; the recurring expense then reuses that split every month.
What if a housemate moves out mid-year?
Settle their position with the suggested list of transfers, then remove them from the group. Past expenses keep their original split — nothing is recomputed.
Can I export the expenses for a reconciliation?
Yes, as CSV, over whatever period you choose. The file opens in any spreadsheet.
Does every housemate have to install the app?
No. The invite link opens the group in the browser, on a phone or a computer.
Is the app free?
Yes, entirely. No subscription, no paid features, no ads and no ad trackers.
